The Johto Starters Were THE Prize Pokemon Of Gen 3

I was fascinated by Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile in Gen 3 Pokemon when I was growing up with it. The generation lacking the Johto region proper made them feel almost mirage like, and I didn't have access to Pokemon Colosseum until I was much older. I was never able to beat Mt. Battle in Pokemon XD or complete the hoenn dex in Pokemon as a kid, and it just added to the mysticism. of course this all made pokemon heartgold and soulsilver very exciting
